A new year, a new beginning and the start of our first YCF of the year !
This time instead of just congregating in the church building and having out usual devotion and some discussion,
we decided to get physical and took it to the great outdoors! What better way to kick start the new year than by getting some exercise and getting mentally and physically fit!

So the first YCF of the year was held on the 14th of January, on a great Saturday morning at Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam. The activity that we were supposed to be doing was cycling. Why 'supposed' you ask ? Read on to find out why! So to begin the day we met at the church building at 8 o'clock SHARP! And as usual , some of us(there will be no names mentioned) arrived late and made everybody else wait for them in agony. >:) There were around 15 people in all who attended and it was very encouraging to see friends and cousin of Jae Wen tag along with us too!

When we reached though, unfortunately we were too late to get our hands on some bikes! The place was swarming with humans all wanting to get a bike and cycle around the hills to enjoy mother nature. Why were there so many Malaysians out and about on a early Saturday morning and not at home on their beds sleeping or pigging out to Nasi Lemak and Roti Canai? Nobody knows except the Almighty! So after resigning to our fate of not being able to cycle, we decided to take the buses that would take us around Bukit Cahaya for free! SOLD!

I know we were supposed to get some exercise, but because of unfortunate circumstances, we decided to treat ourselves to a FREE BUS RIDE! Yayy!! Its not everyday we get things for free! The girls had to wait for someone to arrive first though so the guys made a move on first.

The guys decided to visit the fish ponds to look at the various colorful and wonderful fish . Either that or they were getting hungry and wanted to buy one to satiate their tummies. Hohoho!

Then as the girls caught up with them, we headed on to the petting zoo! Yes there is a petting zoo in Bukit Cahaya. When we arrived however, we were greeted with a not so pleasant sight. There was a company having their team building session there and decided that the best way to have fun was to play games with the innocent rabbits by manhandling them! Unfortunately we couldn't do anything so we closed one eye and continued looking at the animals.

After having our fill of animals and stinky poop, came one of the highlights of the day! The Bouncy Bridge!

If we jumped on the bridge it would get all bouncy and wobbly it would make anybody on the bridge cry and fall sick! We had our fair share of laughter and cries for us to stop on that bridge. HAHA!

Then we decided to find a place to rest our tired legs and play a game of Murderer! After laughing and shouting like mad men for almost 2 hours it was time to head back to Klang and have some lunch!

Thus the other highlight of the day, LUNCH! Lunch was awesome! We had our lovely pork and rice at Klang Town at a famous restaurant. So all in all, it was an eventful day and a great way to bond with our fellow youths and friends! Hopefully there will be more of such events and that there will be more participation from more youths and friends. Every one is invited! Even if you are a senior citizen or a confused teenager or a Twilight loving tweenager thou are all welcome to join us!

A Light Hearted Talk cum Discussion on Serious Subjects

This talk is aimed at the youth with a view of imparting the speaker’s knowledge & experience and opening their minds to a world of career options, ideas, and other opportunities.

The young of today are exposed to a whole new world of choices, where traditional way of life and doing business have changed, largely influenced by technology and the internet. Does this mean that conventional lifestyle, careers and business models are no longer relevant and profitable?

How do we prepare ourselves for a better future, securing a job that will be rewarding and satisfying? How do we balance our expectation of profits & wealth with living a godly and contented life? How do we serve God and still advance in our careers and grow our business?

Join us for a simple and down to earth discussion, as the speaker takes you through a variety of subjects. You will be invited to ask questions which the speaker will try to offer some perspectives and ideas. The seniors in the audience will also be invited to share their thoughts.

And of course, as the title suggests, there will be coffee served before and after the talk.

Youth Enrichment Seminar write-up

If memory serves me well, this is the 10^th year that the Youth Enrichment Seminar (Y.E.S) has been held. A brief check of the schedule of past seminars (and in fact any camp organized by the church) reveals common terms – lessons, games, devotion, singing and the like. The instinctive thought then, is to presume every seminar (or camp) will be the same as the preceding or subsequent one, hence – dull and boring. However, to judge the Y.E.S based on its schedule would no doubt be unreasonable.

For one, it is the people who participate that matter. Different people participate every year, first timers and veterans alike. And it is the people who make every Y.E.S a whole new experience of learning, fellowship and fun. Moreover, every year different ideas are concocted and implemented to ensure there is some form of variation to the Y.E.S. However, there is one commonality to all the 10 Youth Enrichment Seminars. That is – the youths have come away encouraged, enriched and edified. You do not have to take my word for it. Read for yourself the comments* given by some of the young people who participated in the Y.E.S:

Khoo Tze Ren (Klang): It was a great camp; learnt a lot about the book of James especially chapter 3. The games were fun. I am looking forward to a more fun camp next year!

Calvin Soo (Ipoh): It was a great seminar because we got to learn how the book of James teaches us on how we should live as Christians and also having fellowship with one another with other brethren from other congregations.

Edwin Rao (Malacca): I am very happy and really enjoyed the Y.E.S. I really enjoyed all the games and I studied a lot about God’s Word there. Now, I can really understand the book of James.

Ong Ee Gene (Klang): fun fun FUN FUN!!!!!

Edward Rao (Klang): Good times. When is the next Y.E.S? I want to go again. Sooooo fun.

Tan Hui Yi (Ipoh): It was a great camp and I really gained a lot from the few lessons, understanding more about the book of James. All the games were fun. Indeed a great experience. Thumbs up to the organizing committee and the campers!

Aevyn Quek (Klang): Nice camp. Wish we could organize more activities like this. Thanks to the organizers too.

Simon Wong (KL): It’s my 2nd time joining the Y.E.S and I really enjoyed it. Other than just learning about the Bible in lecture style, we also had some discussions, Q&A and understood more by presenting skits based on lessons from the book of James. It was very creative and also helps rediscover the joy of learning. It was a privilege to meet some youths from various congregations to discuss and learn from each other; meeting them other than just at the YDP.

Sean Lim (Klang): For the past few Y.E.S’s, I’ve been encouraged by the fact that youths from various congregations have an opportunity like this to come together and to strengthen our bonds, which certainly bids well for the future of the church since we always hear the adults saying the youth are the future leaders of the church. In this recent Y.E.S, what we saw was that the younger youth participating have been nothing but energetic and enthusiastic all the way. Furthermore their desire to want to study God’s word has been personally very encouraging and it is certainly my (and probably others as well) hope that they will continue to be an example to all of us, in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith and in purity.

It was a joy to see young Christians gathered together, sharing a common faith and belief, learning together, exhorting one another, bonding over laughter, chit chat and singing. And it is by observing these young people that I comprehend the relevance of that which is written in Hebrews 10:24, 25:

“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

May our young Christians continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

I-Camp

The youths from the Klang Church Of Christ have just finished their I-Camp which was held in Pantai Hills, Seremban.

March 13

All the youths who were participating packed all their things into the cars and departed at 2:45p.m.The journey took us about 2 hours before we finally reached Uncle Charlie's place. The 1st activity we had was of course the clean up where everyone played a part in cleaning up the house.It took us about 1 hour+ and then some of the youths get ready the dinner while others continued the clean up. Then after all our hard work ,we had our 1st wonderful and deeply satisfying dinner which is Steamboat, everyone gather to have meals together and fellowship with each other. After the dinner, we had singing where Bro.Randall taught us the notes that some of the youths were unfamiliar with.After that ,all the male youths were to lead one or two of their favourite chorus song. Our last activity of the night was the night walk where all of us get ready one extra shirt. Everyone had to use their extra shirt to blindfold themselves and we line up one line for guys and one line for girls and start the journey down and up? (i was blindfolded too) the hills. On the way thru the journey, some youths were to stop and wait with the blindfold on while the others continued their walk until everyone was station at a different place. Then each one were to walk back Uncle Charlie's place while enjoying the night's sky. After that we had somemore fellowship and a good night sleep.

March 14
Everyone woke up around 8.00a.m. and we were divided into groups and we had one game that which the organizers asked question to everyone and those who couldn't answer were given the task to prepare breakfast for everyone with one organizer helping us. After the breakfast, we start our game which ''Who want to be a millionaire''. Next, we presented a token of appreciation for Uncle Charlie .After that, all of us cooked their own lunch (awesome maggi mee) together. Next, we all were to get ready with our shoes and get ready for treasure hunt and station games at about 2p.m.. All the groups have to go down hill to the pond and fish,but unfortunately none of the groups caught any. After that, we all had 3 stations games to play which was guessing game (Charades, guess who is this , guess who sang this song) fear-factor (onions , wassabi , cili padi) and a game which involve our thinking ( rubics cube, sudoku , word puzzles and calculation) .After completing all this games ,we were to search for the treasure box,and figure out wheres the key. Group 2 managed to win received the prices contained in the treasure box. The game ended around 5.30p.m., others play games and while some prepare food for dinner. Our dinner was bbq which was handled by Bro.Joel and some had steamboat again.All of us had a wonderful dinner together and also great fellowship. After the dinner, some of us went for night walk and some of the youths stay in the hall play games.

March 15
Everyone woke up around 9a.m. to have their breakfast and Everyone start cleaning up the house and packed all their stuff into the cars. We leaft Pantai Hills around 11a.m.. and then most of us went to Kota Kemuning's MacDonald to have our lunch there. After that, everyone go back their respective home and have a good rest after having fun at the camp.

We would like to thanks Uncle Charlie for providing accommodation, facilities and also being there for us through out the most of the time in the camp. We also want to thanks Aunty Lily borrow her MPV and also Uncle Yeow Kong who brings us up to the hills and stay with us and also Uncle Eng Boon who fetch the late comers and stay with us.

She will be there for one year to complete her studies.

Praise the Lord for the addition of 4 more young souls to the Lord!

Khoo Tze Ren, Aevyn Quek, Leow Huey Jean and Lim Chia Ye all got baptized in Klang today.

Welcome to the family of God!

We hope that we will all help each other to run this Christian race together for we know that the way that leads to eternal life is not easy. But we must be faithful until death, and God will give us the crown of life. :)

And at the end, hopefully we will be able to say;

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. :)

Philippians 4: 4; Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

On the 30th of December 2010, our very own preacher's son; Ong Ee Gene decided to render obedience to the Gospel and was baptized into the church. Then, the following Sunday, (2 January) 4 young people decided to do likewise and begin their new year as new converts.

Jiao Faye, Jyven, Jaylyn and Joelyn Chan were baptized in the Klang Church Building into the family of God.

We rejoice with the angels in heaven for the addition of 5 new Christians to the Church. :)

We hope they they will grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

And may we all continue to be steadfast in the faith and grounded in the truth.

Year End Gathering 2010

December 31st 2010

It's the end of the year again , and as usual, we gather together to celebrate the new year and reflect back on the things we have done in 2010.
This year was a little bit different though, instead of having dinner first, we had HEAVY SUPPER instead. So at 8pm on Friday ,the place was packed and we had to add more chairs for people to sit. We then started it off by singing hymns and an opening prayer.
After that we had our first devotion or rather, end of the year message by our Elder; Bro. Koay . He, of course, led hymn 75 (Lord I Believe) first and his message was about the God of heaven and how we should always be prepared no matter what happens. And after that we all headed to building B for our HEAVY SUPPER. Awesome Indian food =D
There were also stations there with fun activities such as solving riddles and guessing the correct number ,votes for categories i.e. best dressed and best smile, activites for the kids and also The Flying Paper Aeroplane station! There was also the gift corner where we were extremely generous in giving out gifts.
After our supper and lots of fun, we headed back to building A for more singing and then we had our 2nd devotion/year end message of the night by our Elder; Bro.Steven. Then we had the Sunday School presentation by the kids and also the Sunday School award thingie.. hehe

We then had some games conducted by Bro. Joel and then gifts to be given to the winners of the riddles, quiz and also the guess the weight, number and price.
We also gave awards for Best Dressed (male and female) Best Hairstyle (male and female), best smile, best hugs and so on.. and then we also gave a bottle of sparkling juice to the Elders and Deacons, preacher, church secretary and Uncle Raymond! to show our appreciation for the work that they have done throughout the year.
We then formed a circle to countdown to the new year and also to watch the video that the Chans have made for us in Klang..

It has been a great year and we hope and pray that we will be able to do our best again this year.
We thank God for his continual guidance for us all and for the success of the youth blog.

YDP 2010

20th December 2010
Monday

The Klang brethren, and youths from all over Malaysia as well as 2 from Taiwan, gathered at the church building at 8.30am. (but Malaysian timing of course..) We left later than planned but still reached there on time! However, we couldn't beat the Singaporeans who woke up at 5am and reached there earlier than all us Malaysians.. *malunya* (Kiasu Singaporeans. pfft. haha.) We got there and checked into our respective rooms and dominations.. oops. I mean dormitories. heehehe. Then we had lunch and briefing by our YDP organiser, Bro. Kay Yeow. We had some free time where we mixed around, got to know the youths from other congregations and introduced visitors. Then we had tea and then icebreakers which were organized by the Klang Youth.. We had fun whilst getting to know each other and having fellowship with one another. After that we had more free time before dinner. Then we met in the hall for a devotion#1 by Bro.Bryant on the topic of Moses and then a theme message by Bro. Albert Koay (from Ipoh).Some youths arrived at night. We then had Supper and then it was sleep time.

Tuesday.
Rise and shine at about 7 , some of us had special bagpipes alarm tone to wake us up .As usual , we all wash up and go eat breakfast. We then started the day off with singing and then we had devotion #2 by brother Jonah on the topic of King Solomon. And then we had our learnshop which was conducted by Bro.Kay Yeow , we did some personality test thingies and it ended up quite accurate. After that we had lunch and then devotion#3 by brother Patrick. and then we continued with learnshop#2. Then some of us had tea and then we headed for the games at about 4pm. The games were conducted by the LAP youths, the games were really creative and we thank them for the fun! and ofcourse after-game water splashing .. hehe.
After bathing , we had our dinner at about 6.30pm , oh and btw the food were quite good for ydp standards! After that we headed the to main hall and then we had devotion#4 by brother Alvin on the topic of Joseph. After that we had treasure hunt at night! We were given a map and coordinates to find wooden or zinc plates with names of fruit on it , and we were also suppose to dress up 1 guy and 1 girl as indian tribes chief and chief's wife.. and each group were suppose to perform their indian tribal dance! =D
After that we had Supper and then lights out..

Wednesday
Rise and Shine again!! as usual we had breakfast and then we had devotion#5 by Bro.Dexter.
After that we had another learnshop where each group were suppose to present the 10 ideal characteristics that a Christian should have. =D
After lunch, we gathered back at the hall for devotion#6 by Bro.Jia meng. After that we had another learnshop and each group were to split their members to perform certain roles which they might be good at .. example , the groups were to assign their some of their members to do memory verses, drawings , tongue twisters and they were also to assign "devils" to "kacau" other groups. After that we had tea and then we had games again conducted by the Ipoh youth, the games were really interesting and the best part was when the youths painted calvin's face with lipstick =D Thanks to the ipoh youth for the games!
After all that , it was time to get ready for the Gala dinner and Youth Got talent!
At gala dinner , we had really good food and we were all suppose to dress formal.
The best dress Male and Female were none other then Jonathan Ong! and Stephanie Khoo!
After that we all gathered at the Main hall again for Youth Got Talent. We had Skits by the Jurong youth .. We had beat boxing by bro jia meng and of course harmonious singing by the Jurong Ladies. Then we had another skit by the younger youth of LAP , really entertaining =D
And last but not least , the Combined effort by the Klang,Ipoh, Malacca , Subang , Kota Kemuning youths . The Youth Got Talent was a success and now we know that youth, really got talent.. xD
And then the remainder of the night till the morning was full of fun and fellowship.

Thursday
Had our closing remarks by Brother Kay Yeow at about 11 and then we had our Closing prayer for the camp..
Once again Ydp 2010 has come to an end.

We thank God for the safe journey and also for the Success of the camp.
We also thank the Bro.Kay Yeow for organizing the camp and also we thank those who did their devotions and also the youths who organized the games..
Last but not least, we thank every single youth who came and helped make YDP a success once again.
Join us again next year =D

IFF+YCF+YQD on Saturday (14th august) = a whole lot of awesomeness and great fellowship.

International Futsal Friendly

It was the first time that this event was organized and it was very encouraging to see adults and youths from different congregations turning up for the event. There were a total of 8 teams; klang had 4 teams while Ipoh , Kota Kemuning , PJ17 and KL each brought 1 team to participate in the friendly.The day started off at 8.30a.m at the Klang Church Of Christ building where the participants from different congregations met up for briefing on the rules of the game and also the intructions on how to get to the Futsal Arena. We later arrived at Real Sports Futsal Arena at 9.30 for warm up and team photos. At 10 the games started off with Klang 1 vs Kk and Klang 3 vs PJ17 . All the matches were very exciting and was full of fun and fellowship. The matches ended at about 1.30 p.m with KL emerging victorious . After that , most of the youths and adults went for bah kut teh at about 2.

Youth Christian Fellowship/Youth Quarterly Dinner

Most of the youths arrived at the church building at 5.30p.m. , most of whom were exhausted from futsal but were still able to make it. We had our singing led by Bro.Ee Ren and then we had our lesson on Envy & Jealousy by Bro. Randall. We were split into 2 groups and after the lesson we were asked to debate on "Social Networking Sites , Good or Bad?" I believed we all benefited from the debate as we can learn from both sides of the motion. After the really long debate, we then proceeded to having our dinner. This months YQD food theme was base on sandwiches such as pita , tortilla and croissants, with fillings like ham , bacon , cheese , shredded chicken , pickles , BBQ sauce and etc etc . And not to forget Jae wen's famous CHOCOLATE FUDGE!!
After dinner , we continued to have fellowship with one another and also having a lot of fun playing the games.

The IFF , YCF AND YQD was a success and we thank the organizers for all the events.
We hope those who missed out on the fun would be able to join us next time =D

The Y.E.S was once again held annually in the Klang Church Of Christ building on the 14th-16th of June 2010. Most of the participants (around 30) stayed over at the church building for the 3 days.
The guys room was in the annex room ( though some of them slept in the auditorium) while the girls room was upstairs in the few study rooms.
This Years Theme Was The Mind of Christ based on the book of Philippians and was taught/facilitated by Bro.Chris Lopez
DAY 1
Everyone was told to arrive at 9.am for the registration. Each participant had to pay about rm20 for the Food. So the program started around 9.30+ where we had singing led by Bro.Ern Shern.
We had our first lesson on the book of Philippians and Bro Chris passed out a the booklets to everyone. This booklets were meant to be use for all the lessons. We were then split out to our various groups (Yellow,Red,Green,Blue) and each group were set out to do their on discussion on to answer the questions given in the booklet.Each group had to discuss different chapters of the Philippians and later to present our discussion .
After that, we had our lunch at about 12...
Then it was time for Group Yellow to present their discussion on Philippians 1. After that , Bro Chris then went to on to further explain Philippians chapter 1 and the lessons we can draw from that chapter.
After that we had Tea at about 3 and we started our games at 3.40p.m. The games was prepared by Bro Justin and Bro Daryl. We started off with some icebreakers.
Then we moved on to the real games. They had prepared 2 games for that day , Flying FoxEgg and the latest version of Capture the Flag (version 6.67c..LOL).Flying Foxegg was a game where each team were given 5 eggs , toilet tissue , rubber band , a bottle of gum to "Flying Fox" our egg down the line without breaking the eggs.

The other game Capture the flag was also a great game where each to choose 1 Leader , 1 tanker, 1 Bomber , 1 Medic and 2 infantries. Each member has a water balloon (Lives) on their back while a tanker has 3 lives. The leader is blind folded , the medic carries a bucket of water balloons( lives ) to heal other members , the bomber carries a bom( water balloon) to throw at the opponents and the infantry are the normal soldiers. The main objective of the game is to capture the flag n bring it back to their base , or to extinguish the leader and the medic. There is a water gun placed in the middle of the battlefield where only the infantries are allowed to use. The tankers are immune to the water gun and the water boms.
The games was great and after that we had our rest , bath , dinner. We then had our singspiration led by Bro Tze wei And Bro Simon Wong from KL church of christ.
After singing our hearts out, we then had some great fellowship before a good night rest.

Day 2
Rise and shine , suprisingly all of us managed to wake up on time and then we had a great breakfast at 8.30. The breakfast was prepared by Bro Randall , Yen Nee and Jae wen, Ern Shern did make the milo though =P. We then Proceeded with singing at 9.30 and had our lesson/ presentation at 10.
After that we had our lunch at 12.
Then the lessons continued.
A quiz on the lessons was conducted at 3.
At about 3.45 , we had our really awesome treasure hunt game, once again prepared by Bro Justin and Daryl , as well as assisted by Krystle and Tze Wei.
After Team Yellow emerged as winners =D , we then again had our rest , bath , dinner.
Again we had our singspiration at 8 and was conducted by Bro. Randall , We learnt a few songs , espescially the song He still came , it was a very meaningful song. We Didn't learned the song He touched Me though some youth learned it from randall .. hehe
after the singspiration , we had a great night of fellowship and singing again through out the night and morning .. lol =D

Day 3
Had breakfast again , cooked by Jae wen , Tze Wei , Isaac( from Sg) and Jonathan Lee( from malacca) . we later cleaned up the place n then had our prizes for various group and then we said it was time for all of us to gome home and we said our goodbyes

Another Great Y.E.S and we hope those that weren't able to make it this year will be able to join us next Year . Just like daryl said , BEST Y.E.S YET =D

Youth Christian Fellowship, April+ Quarterly Dinner

We had our monthly YCF for April together with our YQD on Saturday, the 24th of April. :) .

So it was a YCF+YQD = Y(CF+QD) =p

It was a pretty good turn out. We had some visitors.. new and old. Erny brought his friends; Foo Shin and Jae Wen (our extremely regular visitor) who in turn brought along his friends, Ken Hean and Din Shan aka Levi. xD Joan brought Cedric, Justin and Joey. :)

We also had youths from other congregations; Alvin Lee from Malacca and Eunice from PJ 17.

It was supposed to start at 5.00 p.m. but due to MRT (Malaysian Rubber Time).. We started at around 5.30..

First, Ee Ren gave a short devotion on singing; why we sing without musical instruments and the importance of singing. :D

After this, it was time to.. sing!

We were divided into our parts.. Then Randall explained briefly about the different kinds of hymns; happy, slow, motivational.. etc.

After this, each male youth led a hymn each.. Including the young one's like Ee Gene and Tze Ren. (Good job, guys!)

We were all getting hungry so after the singing, Bryant led us in a word of prayer before.. MAKAN time!

The food was so good.. I didn't even have the opportunity to take picture of it because everyone was too busy eating. =P heheh. Anyways, the food was good.. and so was the fellowship. We all had fun and enjoyed ourselves.

After this, we all gathered back in the annex room to have more fun. According to Joel.. The purpose was to introduce the visitors to YDP games. :D

First, we all sat in a circle..

and Joel brought in the leftover chocolate fudge made by Jae Wen. As a "punishment" everytime we made a mistake.. we'd have to eat 3 pieces at once. You'd think this wasn't much of a punishment as Jae Wen's fudge tastes good. (makes me wonder if some made mistakes on purpose. haha.)

We started off with watermelon because it seemed the easiest. :)

So then, we moved on to bunny ears. :p

Took a while for some people to get used to it. But then they discovered that it was very fun. :D

Last but not least, we played Ping-Piang-Ah!

Many became victims of loud screamers.. It was like having 2 large speakers blasting at max volume centimeters away from your ears. Ouch.

Tze Ren was one of the victims. hahah.

It was especially fun to see people trying to scream with their mouths full of chocolate fudge. xD In the end.. we managed to finish all the chocolate fudge and it was already quite late when we all decided to go home..

We left with sore throats and painful ear drums but also with big smiles and good memories. :)

Ahh.. Yet another successful YCF :) Special thanks to all the organizers and everyone who came!

To those who didn't come.. Please come next time because you're really missing out on the great fellowship!

On the 16th to 18th of February 2010(Wednesday-Friday), we had a camp at Kem Isi Rimba.
We reached the campsite at around 10am. We checked in. Signed forms saying that if we die the camp facilitators wont be held responsible. Then we went to take a look at what was going to be our home for the next 2 nights. Initially the plan was to sleep in tents, but when we got there, lo and behold there weren't any tents set up at all. We had to settle for huts. So we shall call this Camp in Huts 2010. The place was (insert politically correct substitute for "unclean"). But i guess that's the point of having the camp in the first place, to rough it out. After we kept our bags at the huts we adjourned to the canteen where we had breakfast. Well, some of us had breakfast. Others weren't appetized by the food. (i shall say no more) After that, we set off to our first jungle trek. I say first because there was a second the next day. (more on that later) To summarize what we did here are a few pictures.

After the hike, we stoned in the common room of the camp cause it was raining and we couldn't do anything else. Some played cards. Others slept. When the rain finally died down, we bathed and then had dinner. Bathing was an experience.(i'll leave it as that) After dinner, we had a few games by the camp facilitators. They showed us some kampung lameness and we showed them urban lameness likewise. (i.e.Joel) Then we slept. The guys took turns to sentry throughout the night so that nothing funny will happen to the girls. heh.

The Place.

The next day, we woke up. Had breakfast and set off for jungle trek V2; the mountain strikes back.(ok. lame. i know) Some of us fell sick and couldn't go for this excursion. Other's had enough of the leeches and all the other wonderful things that are found in the great outdoors and thus just slept in. Here are some pictures of the hike.

After the very tiring hike, we had our obstacle course! Yes! First off, we did the flying fox.
Nothing compared to Skytrex. After the Flying Fox, we did the "challenging" obstacle course.

After that, we all took a rest, bathe and got ready for dinner. We had a barbeque. The food were all supplied by the staff. All we had to do was... barbeque them! duh. After our delicious barbeque dinner, we got ready for PAINTBALL!!! Vietnam Village style. Half way through the game, we had to quit as the masks were fogging and visibility was bad. Very bad.. So we decided to play the next day before we left for home.

As there was nothing else left to do, some decided to sleep and others decided to make a fire. There were still some left over chicken from the barbeque, so they barbequed it and had it for supper! Yay!!

The guys were supposed to take turns and do sentry duty, but as we were seriously tired out by the days activities, most of us didn't do our duties. Tze Wei was eating his barbequed chicken while sentrying at 2AM. Round of applause for him please. xD

Next day, we got up and got ready for paintball again. We played the tournament style field. Broke ourselves into groups and had fun. To those who got plenty of love bites *cough*Randall, i pity u. xD But we did have fun. And after paintball, we got our stuff from our huts and got ready to leave. As we were all CRAVING for some good, clean food for lunch, we decided to eat at McD's. Maaaan did it feel good~~ After lunch, we of course left for home!

What a wonderful camp! We learnt a VERY good lesson those 3 days.
Lesson 1, never trust the staff there. THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!!!!
From tents, they gave us huts. From a "sangat dekat sahaja" hike, to a 3 hour walk to a UNPLAYABLE WATERFALL!

But to those who did not join, please do join the next time we organize another camp.
Don't let dirty huts and lying staff to be an excuse not to go to a camp. Although those 2 are pretty good excuses. xD But we wont make the same mistake AGAIN! We will do background checks and everything on the place and staff before we go ahead with the camp. Rite Chee Khiang? ;D

Last saturday, we had a YCF for the month of february.

We were supposed to start at 5pm sharp. well, that was the plan anyways.
As usual we started a bit later at about 5.20pm. We sang a few hymns followed by the lesson by bro.EngBoon on the topic of "adultery and fornication". A very taboo subject but important nonetheless. He did a very good job and the youths took a lot out of the lesson on how to conduct ourselves as to avoid putting ourselves in such a position that could cause us to be unable to resist the temptation. remember, Joseph RAN! ;P

After the lesson we had games conducted by bro.Joel. We were divided into two groups and proceeded to play Hangman. The game was fun and involving. And Joel, for your information, adulteration is actually a real word. ahhaha! according to ;

The youths at klang had our first Youth Christian Fellowship(YCF) and Youth Quarterly Dinner(YQD) on the past saturday, 23rd Jan 2010.

The event started at about 5pm or so. (or so...) We sang a few hymns followed by a devotion given by bro.Randall on the fruits of the spirit. Enjoyed the lesson. Good delivery and excellent slide show! kudos to Randall for being so well prepared.

After the devotion we had GAMES! well, A game to be exact. (charades to be precise. creative-nya!) And guess who organised the games? bro.Randall! he says he's being so active so early in the year so that he can be lazy for the rest of the year. haha! jk.

Charades was fun. It took a while to warm the crowd up, but after we got the crowd going, the volume rose significantly too. We found out who could act really well! and who couldn't. haha, tze ren! :P

After the games we had a prayer led by bro.Jonathan followed by dinner! it was pot-luck that evening and so there was a wide variety of food to choose from. Quantity was a problem(which should be sorted out by the next YQD) but there were no complaints about the quality of the food. (:

After dinner, we cleaned up the place, did the dishes and arranged the chairs back to the original places. Then we gathered round so sing more hymns. It was great fun. Everyone's spirits were lifted and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We took turns to lead hymns. Randall, ErnShern, Bryant, Patrick and Daryl. (hope i didnt miss out anyone. =S )
Then we had the closing prayer and we were off!

A few of us stayed back for mamak while waiting for some of the youth's transport to arrive.
The rest of us went home, inward filled(in every sense of the word) and uplifted. Not a bad start to the new year! not at all. Bring on the next 11! :D

On the 21st-24th of December, the YDP was held at the Gunung Lambak Eco Resort Kluang
As usual, nearing the end of the year, youths from different congregations in Malaysia and Singapore came together for the Youth Development Program.
However, this year it was organized by the Lim Ah Pin CoC youths. It was debate style as to encourage us to learn and study the Scriptures for ourselves to find answers to questions and problems we face especially when growing up. Hence the theme; Growing Pains.
There were 3 different debate motions.
Social drinking is wrong,
Clubbing is wrong
and Marrying a non-Christian is wrong.
There were 6 groups this year and each motion had 2 groups; the Proposition and the Opposition

Day 1

The Klang youth that were taking bus to the Resort gathered at the Klang CoC building at around 6.30-7am and the bus left around 7.15am. We reached the Resort at around 11 and then later gathered at the hall to meet up with the other youths there(This year we had around 110 youths who attended the YDP) for briefing. After, we took our bags to our rooms. The girls stayed in nice hotel type rooms while the guys stayed in smelly dorms =P After that we went to the hall again.. (oh and did I mention that the Cafeteria is at the top while the hall is at the bottom of the hill.. and the road uphill was super steep ) to have our ice breakers game by us (Klang youths) to get them to know each other .Then later we had our debating basics lesson by Bro.He Liang from Damansara Utama CoC. After dinner we had singspiration led by Bro. Jon Yang. After the singspiration the Klang youth had our discussion for finale night.

Day 2

Most of us woke up at around 6.30+ and we had our breakfast at around 7.20. After Breakfast we had the privilege of hearing the devotion Bro.Alvin Lee from Malacca. After that , we spent most of our time in debate discussions with our groups.We had Bro. Jedediah , Jon Yang and Alvin to facilitate and assist us while we were discussing in our various groups. After Tea , we had the games , organized by the LAP youth. The games were really interesting , creative and FUN! Credits to the LAP youth.
Then, we had more discussions for finale night...

Day 3

We all woke up and had breakfast at 7am.
After breakfast, Benjamin Kwan gave a devotion on humility. After that, we had our last session of fine tuning for our debate and practicing our speeches before we had our first debate session after lunch. The guys were separated from the girls. We started off with the motion; Social drinking is wrong followed by Clubbing is wrong. There were many interesting points that were brought up, especially by the opposition teams who really twisted the Scriptures. (hahah.) Then, we had tea before getting ready for the games. :D
The games were very fun, creative and unexpected.

Especially the human foosball and captain ball with tomatoes instead of a ball. Unfortunately, in the middle of our games, it started raining. Therefore, we had to cancel the remaining games :(
We all went for dinner before getting ready for the final debate; Marrying a-non Christian is wrong.

After the debate we all went to the Dewan Jati for Finale night!
There were 4 groups; LAP, Jurong, Klang and the rest aka United Malaysian States (UMS)
There were many funny performances. As well a few 'educational' yet also entertaining ones.
I won't describe in detail because that would take over a thousand words. So here are some pictures. :)

Many slept very late and a few didn't sleep at all.

Day 4

The next day, everyone was practically half dead.
Breakfast was at 7.30am and after breakfast, Kelvin gave a very short devotion.
At 9am, everyone was instructed to pack up and put their things in the Dewan Jati.
We did so then assembled at the canteen to have fellowship with one another.
We exchanged books, took more pictures and some sang.(those with voices left anyways)
Then we had lunch.

After lunch,
We took a group picture.

Then we all said our goodbyes.
The Klang bus was the first to leave.
Those who were left (the Singaporeans+ a few of us sesat Malaysians), took more pictures.

Eventually, we all left the resort for our respective destinations.

This year's YDP was a special, refreshing change to the years before.
It was very beneficial as we all learnt new things and had good fellowship with one another.
To those who did not go for the YDP 2009, (too bad. xD) we hope to see you this year.
To those who came, please come again this year and of course, bring your friends!

Poetry is dense stuff in my opinion.
Who knew understanding a short string of neatly-spaced, properly ordered, centre aligned sentences could be so hard?
So what if it's filled with bombastic flowery words that only people from ancient history used?
And so what if there are hidden meanings behind the text, in between the lines?
Are they not just mere words? Anyone can write them.
Why then are we moved by the words of Shakespeare when he writes this poem.
Touching as it is. Moving as it is. Meaningful as it is. What we have here is nothing new!

In the Bible, we are reminded constantly of the uncertainty of life.

" Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit";

Sure, we are young. Average life expectancy is about 80?
We think that we have plenty of time to make things right with God.
We'll give in to temptation and sin every once in awhile thinking that God will forgive us.
It's not like we are going to die tomorrow right? Wrong.
This kind of mentality will condemn us to hell.
Make things right with God, for we could be gone in an instant. literally.
When we reach the inevitable end of our journey here on Earth, whenever that may be, sooner for some than for others, the only thing that matters is what God thinks of us.
Make things right with Him so that you can stand up on the judgment day and give an account of your life that is worthy of eternal life.
Make things right with Him so that you can say on that final day that it is well with my soul.
Make things right with Him who has sent his only begotten Son to die on the cross so that it is possible to make things right in the first place.

Why God called him back even while he was so young?

Visit To Melaka Church Of Christ

So for the Month of October we visited the Malacca Church of Christ.
We Stayed at Alvin's house for a day before Sunday worship.
There were 4 of us who went , Tiong Soon ,Yen Nee, Joan and Ern Shern.
Tiong Soon drove us there. We left klang about 12.45.
And guess what time we reached there.. 5pm.. joke of the day..
This is because Tiong Soon got lost and we ended up going to A Famosa Resort instead of the real A Famosa, and Tiong Soon's friend told him A Famosa was inside the resort.. haha
Anyways , when we reached there we met Alvin and Jessica. Then we went walking around in the Dataran Pahlawan Megamall which was very near to Kota A Famosa.

After that, we dropped off our stuff at alvin's house before getting ready for the youth class later on that day at 7.30

At the youth class we were joined by Jonah and Micah .
We all sang a few songs followed by a short lesson by bro.Ern Shern.
The lesson (or the recycled lesson =P) was on Joseph .

After that, the Malacca youths took us out to a late dinner at some famous place selling nice noodles and also Ais Kacang.

Mmmmm .. Yummy!!

After dinner , they took us to the Taming Sari Tower, also known as the first (i think, only) Rotating Gyro Tower in Malaysia =D

So after supper we went back to Alvin's place to have a goooooooooood nights rest.

Day 2
After waking up and getting ourselves ready, we went for breakfast first before going to the Malacca church building.
Alvin's mom took us for beef noodles.. yummy..
At church , we were split into the youth class.
Bro.Steven Loo was teaching us on Acts 20 , about Eutychus who fell asleep while Paul was preaching and he fell from the 3rd storey and died. From this lesson, we can learn from Eutychus that even though he was tired he still came to hear from Paul.
After that we proceeded to the youth session. We were pleasantly surprised when the worship was conducted in 3 languages; English ,Chinese and Malay.They were also able to pray very well in Malay. Bro. Yu Kong was the preacher for that day and his lesson was very energetic and funny as well. Did you know that the game of Hide and Seek was invented in the beginning of the Bible. Where Adam and Eve hid themselves away from God. You didn't know that did you?! =D
After That we stayed back for church lunch. We'd like to thank the brethren there who prepared the delicious food .
At around 3 we went to try the famous chicken rice ball there in Malacca.

After that we went back to Alvin's home to rest and have fellowship with each other =)

After a good amount of resting, we went to have SATAY CELUP for dinner

Greetings from the youth from the Church of Christ that meets at 20 Lim Ah Pin Road

Announcing: 22st Youth Development Programme (YDP) Theme: Growing Pains 21st – 24th December, 2009 Venue: Gunung Lambak Eco Resort Kluang

It is our pleasure to invite the youths in your congregation to be part of this year’s YDP. The YDP is a training program that will equip our youths with the knowledge and skills to become effective Christian leaders, Bible class teachers, personal workers, speakers, and song leaders, as we have seen happening over the years.

This year’s main activity will be a debate style approach to tackling questions and problems that youth face in their secular lives. They have been assigned 1 of 4 topics to research on before the YDP starts and will present their views and findings in a session which will be moderated by olders youths from various congregations. In this session, we are not aiming for a winner or loser of the debate, but a better understanding of the topic of the debate thereby allowing the youth to make their own decisions. Apart from the debate there will be devotions lessons, team-building games and singing.

Participation is open to all youths from 12 to 23 years of age. Both Christians and non-Christians are welcome. This year the camp will be held at Gunung Lambak Eco Resort Kluang, Johore. The participation fees will be RM180.00 – RM240.00 per soul, depending on the type of accommodation chosen, inclusive of all meals and accommodation. Please be assured that we will take into consideration brethren who might not be able to afford the costlier accommodation and places will be allocated according to need. As usual the wonderful fellowship and singing is free-of-charge.

Please encourage as many of your youths to invest in this 4-day programme that will make a difference in their lives and the positive influence that they will bring to your congregation. Get them to sign up NOW!

Brother Kay Yeow has graciously allowed myself and the youth at Lim Ah Pin Church of Christ to organize this year’s YDP to allow us to gain experience and do some work for the Lord, we hope that you will support us with your presence and encourage us with your enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s YDP.

Church Planning Session

On the 17th of October, Deepavali, we had our annual Church Planning Session.

A total of around 30 members were in attendance.
We began at 9.40 although we were scheduled to begin at 9. (inevitably.. we too, have succumbed to Malaysian timing)
We started the event by singing a few songs led by Bro. Richard Lim.

Then we had the opening prayer.
Followed by opening remarks by our elder, Bro. Koay Chuan Lek.

Next, our other elder, Bro. Steven Chan delivered his report on the Membership and Evangelism of the Church in Klang. He showed us many interesting statistics and spoke on the vital areas for improvement concerning our membership and evangelism. He also reminded us of our aspiration to be "A Growing and God Glorifying Church".

After that, Bro. John Quek presented his report on the Ministry of the Church and our new slogan; Involve For God.

Our beloved youth leader, Bro. Khoo Tze Wei, was also asked to give a short talk on the youths involvement in the Ministry of the Church.

Then, it was time for a short break where we got to enjoy the refreshments provided by the ladies' fellowship.

After the break, Bro. Eng Boon reported on the mission field, including the various churches planted all over the world.

Next on the agenda, Bro. Sam Tan spoke about the Sunday School Program and how to improve it in the coming year, when he and a few other families will be leaving to start the new work in Kota Kemuning.

Afterwards, we had lunch at 1.35

After lunch, Bro. Rick Kirk gave a presentation on personal work. He spoke mainly on the effectiveness of the Jule Miller Film strip and how it can be used for evangelism.
We were then separated into 2 groups;

after the discussion, each gave a short presentation and then a session was conducted on which ideas to implement and how to implement them.
This session lasted until around 6.15, when we decided to end the planning session.
After the closing prayer, we stayed back to move all the tables back to Building B and arrange the chairs back to normal... well, almost normal..
Overall, it was an informing and pretty productive planning session. We hope that the new ideas will be implemented and have the desired results.
Remember that we as youths are also part of the church and we should therefore do our part to help the church achieve our goal of being a growing and God glorifying church.

YCF - Pizza Making

On the night of October the 3rd..The day the Chinese celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival, better known as the Mooncake festival, We had our Youth Christian Fellowship.
This time, we had our quarterly dinner too. We decided to try our hand at making Pizzas!!
Some of the youths arrived early.
Others.... well... they came later. When i mean later, i mean close to 1 and a half hours late. Yes.
The YCF was scheduled to begin at 4:30pm. We ended up starting at 6:oopm.
Btw, we were joined by 2 visitors that day. Din Shan and Julien and our brother from DU, bro Patrick!

But anyways, Bro Joel Kirk, one of the earlier youths, helped prepare the dough which the youths were going to use for the pizza making. He was helped out by our Bro Ern Shern, Jae Wen and his friend Din Shan.

While others.. well.. they did their own stuff.

Then came the rest of the youths and we began our meeting. There was singing before the devotion led by our very own Bro Bryant Lee.

The devotion speaker for the day was Bro Joshua Chong. His devotion was specifically for the female youths. But im sure we all took home some knowledge from it.

After the devotion, it was time for the fun part. The pizza making.
All the youths gathered around bro Joel as he demonstrated the art of making pizzas.

Look at their curious faces. All wanting to learn. Except Bryant who isn't paying attention.

After the demonstration and the pizza tasting, the youths rolled back their sleeves, tied up their hair and immediately started work. There was a lot dough. So if someones dough get messed up while going through the process, he or she could easily get another dollop of dough to mess up. xD Some made some really adventurous pizzas and some... well... adventurous but total failure. Some used their wild imagination, while some... well.. tried to act pro and messed their dough up.

Everyone of us sure enjoyed ourselves.

After the gruelling process of flattening, rounding and making the pizza look like pizza, we of course indulged in them and savoured every single crumb of it.

The camera man was fortunate enough to get nice macro shots of slices of pizza. And boy does those look good!~

After the making and the eating of the pizzas, we of course cleaned up. Even little Su Yen helped. How kind~ =)

After everything was cleaned, the chairs were arranged back to their rows, the ovens cleaned, the trays cleaned, the floors mopped, the tables put back where it belongs and doing the other stuff, we all sat back and relaxed. We were all stuffed with cheese, dough, tomato paste and mango juice. Boy was it a fun and satisfying night!

Would like to specially thank bro Joel for helping to make the dough and to help demonstrate the pizza making process. He also created one nice looking pizza.

And also bro Joshua for the devotion and bro Tze Wei for planning the YCF successfully.

To those who missed this wonderful night. You sure missed a lot. Be sure to attend the next YCF -Quarterly Dinner! We guarantee you will not regret.

Visit to KL Church of Christ

Last Sunday morning, a total of 6 klang youths went to pay a visit to the KL CoC Congregation to fulfill our plan of visiting a different congregation every month to encourage and to strengthen inter-congregational ties.

The 6 youth (which were Tze Wei , Bryant , Joan , Ee ren , Jae wen and I) met at the Klang KTM station at 8 before getting on the train. We managed to make it in time before the singing started at around 9.30. After that, the adults and the youth broke off for their respective classes. The youth went upstairs for a separate bible class while the adults stayed downstairs. The youth class was taught by Bro. Albert Wong who taught a lesson on giving devotions. He gave us tips and pointers on giving devotions . He also asked each of us to speak on any bible related topic without refering to the bible. It was very beneficial for all of us.
After that we went down for worship. Coincidentally, it was a combined worship that week (both Chinese and English speaking brethren). The Sermon was delivered by Bro.Albert Wong and Alwin Hoo as the translator. The sermon title was The Rainbow & The Promise based on Genesis 9:8-17.

After worship, we had lunch which was prepared by the KL members. Besides the food, we also enjoyed the great fellowship with the youths there.

Next stop, Melaka!

Visit to Subang Jaya CoC

On the past Sunday morning a group of 14 klang youths paid a visit to the Subang Jaya CoC congregation as part of our plan to visit a different congregation once every month to encourage and to streghten intercongregational ties.

Coincidently, there was a Gospel Meeting being conducted by bro.Roger Campbell from the USA. BTW, bro.Roger will be conducting a GOSPEL MEETING at the KlangCoC at the end of this week too.
The attendance was great to the point that additional chairs had to be laid out to accomidate more people. The announcements were unusually hillarious many thanks to...
After worship ended, we hung around mixing with the subang-ians for awhile. catching up with everyone. check this! This won the BHA ( Best Haicut Award ) =P
After that, virtually the entire congregation went over to the SAME restaurant about 4 shoplots beside the church building for lunch. The food was good. The place was packed. Didn't manage to find out who paid for us, but a big THANK YOU to the person concerned, we appreciate it. =D

YCF August 2009

First off, let me start by saying what a huge success the past YCF was. The turn out was great! The fellowship was precious. The activities were FUN!

The event started at around 2.30pm when the youths met in the church building. We got organized and started cleaning the air-con filters. The baptistry was miraculously clean so we were spared the extra task for that day. (=
Taking out the air-con filters isn't as easy as you might think. It is not a one-man-solo job where one person does all the work and others stand around watching. no. this required a team effort, one person had to get on a chair and attempt to remove the filters while 3 people stand behind to support him in case he falls and to provide moral support and words of encouragement. LOL. it was fun.
The initial plan was to vacuum the dust off the filters. guess what. 30++ air-con filters. 1 vacuum cleaner. haha. ingenius. so we resulted to using old tactics. plain old water.
After the filters had dried, we put them back into their original places, took a short breather...
And we were off to our next item on the agenda...
CAPTAIN BALL!!!

Feel short now?Anticipation towering ee renThe games ended at about 6.10pm and by then everyone. and i mean EVERYONE were thoroughly exhausted. But we enjoyed ourselves to the MAX!lol.dont ask me why his face is like that. =P
maybe he was practicing for a darlie advert.

Parents Day '09

On June 13th. We celebrated Parents Day! The event started at 12pm. Right after service.
First everyone was escorted to building B to have lunch. There were loads of yummy food there.
It was pot luck by the way. At 1:30, we headed back to building A to start the activities.
The event was emceed by bro Rick Kirk. It started with some singing. Then it was time for some sketches! The youths sang a chinese song. The tamil congregation sang 2 tamil songs(obviously). Then a video/skit by some very talented actors. The video was created by bro Stephen. The video was about parents doing anything they can to support their children in studies and life. Good job Stephen! ;D

Then came the sunday school's turn to do sketches too. They sang a few songs. Then there was a Happy Family contest. Where audience were supposed to vote on the happiest family based on the photos shown on the powerpoint. After that was a Parents Vs Children competition. The parents were asked questions about their children and vice versa. We're proud of you Erny! ;D
After that was the prize presentation. Then it was home sweet home.

It was a good day for family bonding. To fellowship among other christians. And im pretty sure loads of people had fun.

Orphanage Visitation

Well, as you may or may not have heard, the youths visited the orphanage this morning! (or rather yesterday's morning; it's 12.30am Sunday now =X )
The plan was to gather at the church building by 8.45am and then head on to the orphanage at about 8.55am to reach there by 9. Obviously we, being malaysians, nothing starts on time. =)
We were late by about 20 minutes. But it's OK! The important thing is getting there rite?
There were about 13 youths who were present. Not bad, but could have been better.

So firstly, we gathered the children together in a circle and we had an introduction session, where everyone was supposed to introduce ourselves. i.e. name, age, hobby, etc.

After that we sang a few sunday school songs. We received wave after wave of requests from the orphans. We tried our best to sing aloud with full confidence recalling the tunes of long long ago, way back when we were still in sunday school. ;)

Next, we played a few games!
But before that, it test of our organizing skills once again.

Game 1: Musical Chairs.
Description: Musical Chairs...need i say more? if u really dont know how to play, ask ur mum. haha.
It was a challenge to get the kids in order, but we soon crossed that barrier and the games began!
The kids enjoyed themselves thoroughly although we only had time for 1 round.

Not to mention. Uncle Sam was pumped up for the game too! haha. Still very much a youth in his heart.

(look at randall's "i'm-so-astonished face" priceless haha)The Winner of the game in all his glory doing what he does best, holding on to chairs. ;)

Next up!

Game 2: Throw round things into scoopie thingies.
Description: Well, erm...the objective of this game is to get the tennis ball from one person to the next person in your group across a predetermined gap. The first person throws the ball using the scoopie thingy and the next group member is supposed to catch the projection with his very own scoopie thingy. You know what that means... FUN! =P
Well, the predetermined gap between the group members is supposed to symbolize the gap between us and the orphans. And throwing the balls symbolizes building the relationship between us and them. Nah...it's just plain fun to throw yellow balls around, and that's pretty much why we did it. I just made the last part up to give the game a little more purpose. x)

Well then, LET THE GAME BEGIN!

After the games session we had a short presentation by 3 very special orphans.

After the entertaining display, we had a cake cutting ceremony for the june babies in the orphanage. =)

We sang the birthday song. and they blew the candles and cut the cake.

Then.... MAKAN!!!
We passed out the goodie bags to each and every orphan and their eyes lit up with sheer ecstacy.
What else could a kid want more than a bag full of sweet sweets. =0 yum yum.

Finally the visit had come to an end, we said our good-byes and took a group picture!
Some of them insisted on taking a picture with Bro.Tze Wei. dont know why. i think they know he's my cousin... =0 (eleh...)
Then we adjourned for mamak!

Overall, i think it was a very succesful visit and we'd like to thank the organizers for doing an amazing job. THANKS and we appreciate your work! ;)

Y.E.S 2009

HELLO EARTHLINGS!

Y.E.S 2009 was held on Monday 8th of June till Wednesday 10th of June 2009. For some of you who don't know. Y.E.S is short for Youth Enrichment Seminar. And no, its not where youths go to get rich in property and cash. But rich in knowledge and understanding. This years theme was HOLY CONDUCT AND GODLINESS.
It took place in the Klang church building. Y.E.S is a sleepover kinda thing... So, yea. The participants slept over in the building. The boys slept in the annex room while the girls took the 3 study rooms upstairs.
Participation was very good this year. Considering over 40+ people attended. Some didn't stay over though but they still count.
On the first day, our own Sis Chong Yen Yen was in charge of registration. Participants were required to pay RM15 for this 3 day seminar. This RM15 was for the food that were being catered.
And boy was the food de-li-cious! yum!~ And loads of it too. hehe.

DAY 1 - Monday
The program started around 9-9:30 A.M. It kickstart with singing lead by bro Sean Lim and then lessons which was taught by Bro Chris Lopez. Bro Sean taught the visitors class. Bro Chris split the participants into 5 groups. Appointed group secretaries and were given the task to discuss about a certain topic given to them. After the discussion,were asked what method were used to get their answers. And there were some pretty good methods used says bro Chris.
Shows that everyone was thinking. lol. After the presentation, we haddd...... LUNCH! food was like i said, yummy! After lunch, the groups were to present their answers. After lessons, was tea!
After tea, we had games! Everybody were split into 4 groups of 9 some 10. Then they were briefed on their first 2 games which were icebreakers. The 3rd was an outdoor game. Which didn't turn out as expected. But im pretty sure... SOME people had fun. I hope. hehe. After games, everybody had to wash up and get ready for dinner which was at 7. After dinner, there was a devotion by bro Ong Ee Ren. After devotion was a singing workshop lead by bro Richard Lim father of bro Sean Lim. Participants were taught how to sing and the guys were appointed to lead one song each. After the workshop, was supper then free time. After free time was LIGHTS OUT. Lights out was supposed to be at 11:30P.M. But most of us slept at 2. hehe.

DAY 2 - Tuesday
Pretty much the same thing. Only without the registration. Bro Joel Kirk and our visitor Jae Wen cooked breakfast. Helped by another visitor, friend of bro Joel, Annrene. Food was sufficient. After breakfast was devotion by bro Daryl Kirk. Then another lesson by bro Chris. This lesson was especially special because it really helped us a lot. Oh.. participants were given a booklet by bro Chris entitled Christian Values. After lessons was lunch. After lunch was another lesson. After lessons was tea then games! The games on that day was better than the day before.
After games, some of the youths helped clean up the building. Would like to especially thank bro Bryant and Cedric for helping to clean up. Then we bathed and then ate dinner! After dinner was a devotion by bro Bryant Lee. After devo was another singing workshop. This time lead by bro Randall Chirng. We learnt 3 new songs on that day. 3 very nice and meaningful songs. I'm sure we all enjoyed singing out hearts out. ;) After the workshop, we had free time!! During this free time, some of the youths practiced their Parents Day sketch. Others watched horror movies! Supporting Mulberry still gives me the creeps. lol. inside joke. lol.

DAY 3 - Wednesday
The last day of the seminar. Loads of youths on that day were dead tired. Some of them did not sleep the day before. They were busy shiok-ing sendiri. Had breakfast then devotion by bro Ern Shern. There were no lessons that day. After the devotion, bro Tze Wei gave out the prizes to the winning groups. A certain group had -4 points. Hilarious. After that, those who were feeling emotional that day requested bro Tze Wei to lead the hymn God be with you. Then we closed the seminar with a word of prayer. Some took pictures together with their friends while others hanged around. Then, it was time to say goodbye.

To the organizers, I, on behalf of all the participants of Y.E.S 2009, would like to thank you for succesfuly organizing this event. We had a great time singing, praising God and learning more about him in the 3 days we were there.

YCF & YQD May 2009

Last Saturday, we had a YCF & YQD and i'm glad to announce that it was a GREAT SUCCESS.
There were in total about 40++ youths present at the event. With at least 10 of that number being visitors. (=
We started the day's events with an opening prayer and singing!
Then there was a devotion given by Bro. Tze Wei on wisdom&wealth.
Followed by a closing song and prayer for the food.
Then...

MAKAN!!!

But first, we had to light the bbq.
Hao Qi's miraculous charcoal was the best charcoal EVER made! EVER!
No seriously, what do u call charcoal that doesn't burn?

i call it. Hao Qi's charcoal!!! lalalaa...

Anyway, once the fire had been started, it was time to get busy!
There was lamb. There was chicken. No pork.
Swine flu mah.
There were sausages. Marshmallows. Spaghetti. Potato Salad. Coleslaw. Nuggets. Cake. Drinks. Ice. Styrofoam...
Bottom line; the food was great, the fellowship was priceless and if u were not there?
TOO BAD SO SAD BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!!!

KL Singspiration

As some of you guys know , some of the youths from klang went to support the KL singspiration on the 11th April , which was a Saturday.
We all had a great time and I'm sure many will agree with me on this.
A total of 12 youths from klang went to support the singspiration.

And for the first time, we were all quite punctual... we arrived at the Klang station about 5.10 and we almost missed the train, thankfully the train actually waited for us, or was it because Jae Wen was standing in between the train doors.. haha
And then later met up with Christine at the Shah Alam station..
We reached our stop at Sentul at around 6.30 , and we found out Win Win was waiting for us there.

After getting to the KL church we went to greet the members there and i think they didn't know there were so many of us!
Well, after that we had our dinner upstairs of the KL church building
Many thanks to the nice food prepared by the KL members!!

After our dinner,we had our main activity of the evening!! Singing !!
The singspiration was conducted by Bro.Christopher Lopez with much enthusiasm.. and he manage to motivate all of us with his song leading.. Most of the songs were picked from the crowd.
I think we all felt that it was indeed a great singspiration and I believe we all sang our hearts out, and maybe our throats too.. haha..

YCF 2009

As most of us know, we had our YCF last Saturday at Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam.
The day started out by the participants meeting at the church building at 7:30a.m.
A certain someone, not telling who, arrived late. So, instead of leaving at 8, we left at around 8:20.
Along the way, we were stuck in a traffic jam at the Klang Bridge. Theres never a day when its not jammed.

We reached the Bukit Cahaya at 8:44.

We bought our tickets at the counter and then rented our bikes. Before picking a bike, we of course tried it out first, because some of the bikes were faulty. We don't want any casualties during the trip do we.

Moving on.....After the visit, we continued on cycling around the jungle! To give those who did not participate a picture of how the jungle looks like, it looks like this:

This month's YCF will be in the jungle of Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam.
There will be cycling activities.
So people, brace yourselves for uphill and downhill terrain with the rented bikes.
Enjoy what God had created within the 6days of creation while having fellowship with fellow youths.

Happy Valentines!

So we had our second Youth Christian Fellowship and our first Youth Quarterly Dinner for the year 2009 today. The initial plan was to start at 4.30pm sharp. Needless to say, it didn't start till about 5. Thanks to . . .

=) Beautiful isn't it?

Anyway, then we got on with the singing lead by bro.Daryl Kirk. =D He did pretty ok considering how nervous he was. Good job.There were about 19 youths in total in attendance. Pretty okay lah. (Note the -lah)
Then we had a short devotion from bro.Randall Chirng with a special message from his heart.
The devotion lasted about 20 minutes. By then it was only 5.50. Way too early for dinner. =) Tze wei, our beloved youth leader took the stage for a few minutes and shared with us on what the youth group as a whole should improve in this year. That took about 10 minutes and by then it was still too early to eat. So when in doubt, sing! haha. Daryl led a few more hymns then 2 by me, 2 by ern shern and then another 2 by ee ren. Then bro.Bryant lead us in a prayer. and then....DINNER was served. =DWe had Dato' Boon Chin to open the eating ceremony with the traditional cutting of the santan jelly cake. lol! =P
To all the youths that didn't come. I hope u guys had a good excuse to miss this event. And i pray that you guys will make an effort to come for the next YCF.

Valentines!

Feeling lonely on valentines day? Nobody to share a meal with?
Have no fear, the youths are here. =P

Haha. Well here's the thing, 14th February. THIS SATURDAY. We're having a Youth Christian Fellowship(YCF) combined with the Youth Quarterly Dinner(YQD).
It starts at 4.30pm right up till u finish dinner~
So COME!

Venue: Klang Church of Christ church building
Time: 4.30pm onwards
Date: 14th February 2009
Dinner: Pot Luck!

If u don't have someone special to spend the day with, come and spend the evening with us!
On the other hand, if u do have someone special to spend the day with, BRING THEM ALONG! =)

Bye bye 2008.
Hello 2009!
It's a brand new year today and it's high time we made our new year's resolutions.
Anyway, a little about the Year end gathering we had last night.
Here are some pictures!

The event was supposed to start by 6.30 but, as usual malaysian timing, it only started at about 7.15.
First we had dinner! (=
Needless to say the food was good and abundant!

Then when we all got back from building B we had a short message delivered by Bro. Koay followed by a game for the kids. Blowing balloons till they burst!
Talk about big balloons! The balloons almost twice the size of their heads!
Then, the sunday school did their performances.
The act in the dark was cool. Look at their hands!
After the spectacular display by the sunday school kids, we played a game where 3 people had to mummify another person in their group. ( Simon & Stephen )
Which one is Simon and which one is Stephen? That, i'll leave for u to decide.
Next on the agenda was video messages from bro.CK, bro.Kwan and bro.Daniel and sis.Debbie.
Daniel didn't even say a word throughout the entire video. haha
Then the youths did their performances.

And we did a short skid based on Acts 16.16
The slave girl and her evil spirit. hahaThe false prophets, "Paul"& "Silas"Our very own, home-grown kalefe' (ca-ler-fair) ^^The one-man multitude! lol"I'll Kill Myelf! REALLY i will! Wei, serious la. I'm going to do it! " hahahah

When that was over, next came the performance by the men.
They sang 1 song.
After that was the performance by 4men and 1 lady. ahha
They sang "you raise me up" by dunno who. haha. josh groban?
After that, we played another game.
The aim of the game was to transfer the most cotton balls from point A to point B in 5 minutes using nothing but a straw.
Shortly after that, we had a quiz and the lucky draws all the way till 10 mins b4 midnight.
Then, we gathered in a circle and grabbed our party poppers.
